Opis |
We have a large volume of this incredibly figured timber. It has all been planked and has been airdrying for over 10 years.
Olive trees have been used for centuries and have been mentioned in civilizations that are as old as humanity. More than 1500 years ago, the olive tree was used to make cutlery and furniture. It was used as a symbol of peace in a number of civilizations and still symbolizes peace to this day. In many societies, olive wood lumber holds great significance and is accorded a special meaning. In some religious societies, this lumber was used to make sacred items for use in worship. It was valued for its strength and beauty. All of our olivewood is from South Africa. The trees are very slow growing and typically a 12” diameter tree is over 300 years old. Lengths: mostly 3ft – 6ft Thickness: mostly 1” but also some 1.5” & 2” thicknesses. Widths: Approximately 3”–9”. All live edge & often with bark. Characteristics: Color varies from light yellow to shades of golden brown, mostly with amazing patterns and figuring. It is full of natural rustic defects, bark inclusions etc, but has been used for musical instruments, banjo fingerboards and myriad other uses. |
