Germany: pine log price index increasing sharply in some cases

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for pine continued to rise in January 2022. On average, trunk wood increased by 1.6% compared to December to a level of 85.3 points. B quality gained 1.2% to 98.2 points. 3/4 m lengths increased by 0.1% to 98.5 points.

C grades turned around again and thus increased by 6.3% to 79.9 points. 3 m lengths contributed to this with an increase of 9.6% to 94.6 points.

Alternativtext Pine pulpwood recorded an increase of 7.1% to 84.3 points in January. Spruce pulpwood rose by 5.9% to a value of 81.1 points. Douglas fir pulpwood increased by 3.7% to 59.2 points. The softwood pulpwood index increased by 6.3% to 80.8 points

Year-on-year, the pine index rose 17.5%. B ranges increased by 13.7% - in a length of 3 to 4 m by 7.7%. C grades gained 34.1% compared to January 2021. 3m lengths increased by 48%. Pine pulpwood exceeded the index level of the same month last year by 34.2%
